Hội Cao Niên Người Việt
May 28, 2010
Hello Everyone,
This evening I went to our community project at Hoi Cao Nien (Vietnamese Senior Club) and it was such a WONDERFUL Experience!
They’re so nice and welcoming, very easy to please and the best part was that everyone had a great time.
From what I’ve heard, we’ve been here more than a year and have established a relationship with these people. Many of them came and checked out our church’s events. I really feel that this is a golden opportunity to “REFLECT JESUS’S LOVE” to these people.
Mr. Tòng, one of the members there, came by and talked to my friend Hieu and me. Old man in his 70s but very young in spirit. He looked at our ears and commented if it’s good or bad (lol); he gave us relationship advice, made a few jokes, talked about his career, touched a little on religion, told me that I needed blood, and surprisingly he’s right (basically, we chatted about random stuff). He requested me to bring more young people. The funny thing is that Hieu texted me today just in time for me to invite her to this event. Then she’s willing to drive all the way from Arlington to come and check it out. God is amazing!
I listened to a few romantic poems, which I found ever so sweet. One of which was called “I stroked your hair for the last time” and it almost bring me to tears. Imagine having to say goodbyes to your sweetheart . Old people are just so adorable and romantic. The men all have their Vietnamese magazines at their seats, the ladies still look very elegant and charming.
They’re so appreciative. I thank God for this wonderful experience. All my grandparents have passed away, and I missed them so much. Life got busy and I’ve never gotten the opportunity to take care of them back for all the times that they have cared for me when I was younger. I regret not able to share the gospel to them. There’s so much that I wanted to learn about my grandparents but I couldn’t. I thanked God for my second chance at expressing my love to the elders. I can’t wait until next time, and I encourage everyone to come out.
